GVEC now uses a computer program to schedule all appointments. If you have forgotten the day or time of your appointment, or if you need to know the next time we will be at a stable, the computer scheduler can find it with the touch of a button. We hope that this change will help us meet your scheduling needs more efficiently.

Going on vacation? Give the office a call to let us know the dates you will be away and the names and contact numbers of the people caring for your horse(s). Make sure you give them written permission to call the vet in case of an emergency. GVEC also needs to know to what extent you are willing to treat your horse. For example, would you refer your horse for colic surgery? Would you have your horse transported for care? Who could trailer your horse in your absence? Taking care of all these details will assure that your horse receives timely care in your absence.

Medical records, including x-ray and ultrasound images, are the property of the Genesee Valley Equine Clinic. Legally we must maintain these records at our office for seven years. Clients may request a computer printout of their horse's medical history. If you need an outside consultation or second opinion to interpret x-rays and ultrasounds we are happy to mail these records to another veterinarian. There is a shipping and handling fee for this service. You may also pick up films at the office for your farrier to review for shoeing purposes. In either case, although the client owns the information on these records, the records themselves belong to GVEC and must be returned to our office.
